A car with three seat capacity that can walk on water ready to be produced from the British company Gibbs Technologies in 2008 at a price of U.S. $ 85,000 (approximately USD 782 million). In 2004 a prototype of the car has been tested and Richard Branson, a leading UK entrepreneur, and become the fastest amphibious vehicle ever to cross the English Channel. Driven with V-6 engine, the car's name Aquada was able to speed 175 kilometers per hour on land and swim in the water with a speed of 50 kilometers per hour.
The Aquada will be produced also in the U.S. and other countries. "Personally I am not interested to produce it in Detroit," Gibbs said, laughing. Detroit is the city symbol of the U.S. automotive industry with leading car manufacturers Ford, General Motors and Chrysler operate there.
Allan Gibbs hopes to hire 1,500 employees and produces 100,000 vehicles within five years. Time will prove whether Gibbs would be successful. A clear possibility of many wealthy residents of Jakarta who will join queue to buy to deal with seasonal flooding in the capital.
