Ford recently launched the Mondeo across Europe and now the sportier version of the Mondeo has broken cover. The new carwill be named ST.
Prototypes have been sighted in Germany and the UK. UK based test mules have taped badges and twin exhausts pipes and steel trims.
Under the hood, there could be two engine alternatives. The first could be the 260 bhp 2.3 litre four-cylinder turbo-engine taken from the Mazda 6 MPS and the second engine could be the five-cylinder 300 bhp engine from Volvo.
In order to disguise the slightly larger frontal air intakes, Ford engineers decide to heavily tape some of the intake and the lower radiator grille.
Prices could start from around £25,000 and the new sporty family car will rival up against the upcoming Mazda6 MPS.
In the UK, the Ford Mondeo ST is rarer than the Aston Martin DB9 with under 600 units sold.
